It’s our first reverse episode! As explained on the show, here is my write up for ‘Rules for Reverse’: since this is a podcast dedicated to discussing critically divisive or panned films, the technical parameters I’ve determined for the show are that the film in question must achieve a 60 or below on either meta critic or rotten tomatoes. Occasionally, this rule is broken. But this is the general idea. The Last Jedi, in notoriety alone, is clearly divisive enough to be considered by this show, but according to those parameters does not actually fit, hence why I am now establishing the rule of Reversal(!). For a reversal episode to occur, the film in question must be rated higher than 60 on Rotten Tomatoes AND meta critic and disliked by either a guest in question or myself. So if you’re confused as to why you may be seeing ‘Reverse’ in the title of this video, that is my explanation for it.
While I may never understand why this movie ruffles feathers so thoroughly, I am elated to present everyone with this episode. If I sound too negative on it, please know I adore this film and franchise on which it is based. And if I don’t sound negative enough, then I would question what it is you look to find in critical analysis. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this review as much as we did making it.
