A tragedy has befallen the nation. Nay. TWO tragedies! First of which is that people apparently didn’t like Jumaji? Critically reviled, I’d go as far as to say. And the second tragedy was that my guest this week has fallen ill! So everyone please wish Nemo a speedy recovery while we discuss the ‘definitely a kids movie’ Jumanji! Robin Williams wears jungle clothes! Monkeys cause chaos! Crocodiles almost eat our heroes alive, and a kid gets trapped in a board game for over twenty years. What a jolly good time for the whole family. If there’s one takeaway from this it’s that 90’s kids were not pussies. We watched this stuff and cried and were traumatized and went to years of therapy and only now can we critically discuss the relevance of this classic. So please enjoy episode 70 as we dive into what made this movie good enough for a sequel almost 30 years later.
