The Beach, Aka Blue Lagoon meets Rescue Dawn, where we get to watch Leonardo DiCaprio go a little more nuts than usual. On paper, The Beach should totally work. Great director, great writer, great star, great source material, you get the point. But something about The Beach shows a disconnect. Maybe it’s the sweaty palm prints from Hollywood producers sticking their hands in. Maybe it’s just ambitious ideas that never came to fruition. Maybe it’s the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio literally hissing at a girl in this film. Whatever the reason, The Beach struggles to work as a cohesive film. Luckily my guest is an avid fan of the source material, so we got to break it down in vivid detail to see what works. Featuring Special Guest Star Grant ‘Gopher’ Crawford!
