Mile 22, recommended to our show by @abc4success, is my top choice to win the award for “best almost good movie” on this show. It’s an action movie with Marky Mark yelling at people and snapping a rubber band. What’s not to appreciate? Sure the editing is so choppy that the median shot length is likely too quick for the human eye to process. Sure the characters are all on the verge of exploding due to shear stress and anxiety. Sure John Malkovich has a buzz cut toupee. But Mile 22 doesn’t miss the mark on what makes a great Peter Berg film. In fact it probably understands that concept all too well and as a result pushes those limits to their ultimate extreme.
