As a huge Godzilla fan, I think I speak for everyone in agreeing that 1998 is 100% NOT Godzilla. Breaching the Toho contract in nearly every way possible, GINO (Godzilla in name only) manages to be a shining achievement in how to adapt from source material. Paying all homage and no respect, GINO often feels like a satire. Of course that doesn’t mean that it’s not enjoyable. Matthew Broderick stammering has never been more enjoyable. Leon The Professional’s aspirations for coffee have never been more enjoyable. And Jurassic Park rip offs have...well, ok they’ve been done better. But the important takeaway here is that we can still appreciate a solid idea gone awry, specifically when we decide to reimagine certain casting choices that made for one of the funniest moments in the history of this podcast.
