I feel like I’ve lied to a lot of people in my life when they asked if I had ever seen Legally Blonde before. It’s one of those movies that you’re likely embarrassed to have not seen because it is so culturally iconic. Yet you’re also embarrassed if you have seen it because you infer that it says something about you as a person if you enjoy it. So yea, I’ve given a lot of people that guilty nod when they’ve asked because it’s easier than saying I haven’t seen Legally Blonde before reviewing it for this podcast. But what else is this podcast for if not examining movies that I’ve missed? To my pleasant surprise, Legally Blonde is objectively solid. Sure, it’s not exactly the pinnacle of filmmaking or drama. But it’s bolstered by a delightful, satirical performance that elevates the already charming material. There’s a reason Reese Witherspoon is a household name. And ok, not all of it ages super great. But Legally Blonde is worth your time even if you’re hesitant, and I think this episode does a fine job of explaining why. Featuring Special Guest Star Katie ‘Elle Woods’ Balen!
